The Fernery Lodge

The Fernery lodge is exclusive and unique, situated on the Sanddrift River gorge above a 30 meter waterfall, and overlooking the Indian Ocean. It offers guests breathtaking views, beautifully appointed living areas, 6 superbly furnished luxury suites which are tastefully and individually decorated. Every effort has been made to ensure our guests comfort, from crisp percale linen and large luxurious bathrooms to underfloor heating and satellite television. Other features include heated towel rails, tea and coffee making facilities, a mini bar fridge, digital safes, hair-dryers and cosy bath robes. Open fire places in the lounge and dining room, a Jacuzzi, sauna, swimming pool and gym for the exclusive use of Lodge guests, are but some of the features that make the Lodge a really special destination.
We regret that no children under 12 years are accommodated in the Lodge, which includes the fine dining Restaurant.

Luxury Suites (2 units)
The suites, overlooking the Sanddrift River, are decorated with an understated yet romantic elegance and set a new standard in country luxury.

Honeymoon Suites (2 units)
The honeymoon suites are beautifully appointed and extremely romantic, having all of the luxuries mentioned above, as well as a spa bath and private deck with loungers and braai facilities, and a magnificent view over the river and ocean.

Garden Suite
The garden facing suite is nestled into lush shrubbery and fynbos. The garden suite captures the glorious afternoon sun and has easy access into the beautiful gardens.

Pamper Room
Enjoy a relaxing massage or facial in the exquisite Pamper Room, a lodge room surrounded by lush-green ferns.
Manicures and pedicures are also on offer. Guests are invited to make use of the accommodation facilities, including the pool, jacuzzi and sauna before or after treatments.

The Fernery Chalets

Nestled among the fynbos overlooking the river, the charming Fernery chalets are beautifully furnished and equipped, offering guests the perfect country retreat.
Spacious and secluded, each chalet has an en suite bathroom with both bath and shower, and we have aspired to provide everything for your comfort from crisp percale linen and mohair blankets, to tea and coffee facilities and a Weber braai with wood and charcoal. Enjoy the tranquillity and beauty of river pools, bird life, mountains and plantations from the privacy of the sheltered deck, or curl up in front of a cosy log fire indoors. Chalet facilities include a recreation room with a sauna and satellite television, a swimming pool and an eight man jacuzzi that overhangs the river gorge.
The Chalets are open to children of all ages. Babysitters can also be arranged on request, should adults wish to dine in the restaurant.

B&B Chalets (6 units)
The B&B chalets sleep two in either twin or king size luxury. Magnificent bathrooms have double basins and showers, as well as a bath perched in front of a large shuttered window, overlooking the river gorge.
We do not have televisions in the B&B chalets as the general feeling is that they would disturb the peace and serenity of the magnificent setting.

Self-catering, Family Chalets (2 units)
The self-catering chalets are ideal for families as they sleep 4 people on an open plan basis – two upstairs and two downstairs, sharing a bathroom. These chalets have a fully equipped kitchenette and the quoted price is for the chalet excluding breakfast. Self-catering guests are welcome to make use of the fernery and restaurant facilities at any stage.

Self-catering, Twin Chalets (2 units)
The luxurious twin chalets are the perfect choice for couples travelling together as they consist of two spacious en suite open-plan bed and sitting rooms, each with a cosy fireplace and flat screen television. The modern suites are beautifully decorated and open onto a deck with a plunge pool and a view over the river.
Each twin chalet has a well equipped central kitchen, bridging the two rooms, with a dining table for shared self-catering and socializing, while allowing guests perfect privacy when desired.

Meals
Light Meals : available throughout the day at the Fernery.
Informal Meals : may be ordered from the Fernery kitchen daily between 07h00 and 17h00 to be delivered to your suite or chalet.
Dinner : The Cellar restaurant in the Lodge serves an excellent four course menu d'hôte dinner (no children under 12 years). When necessary, the Otter's Holt restaurant in the Fernery is also opened for dinner guests.
Dinner Braai / Barbecue : A three course meat, fish or vegetable braai can be arranged for the lodge or chalet recreational areas. This is a festive occasion, intended for larger groups, or when the weather is too good to stay indoors.
Informal Braai : A scaled down version of the above, prepared and delivered to your chalet or honeymoon suite, ready to cook and enjoy on your private deck.
Picnics : A selection of picnics is available on order from the Fernery, including an exclusive chef's picnic.

Times
Late Arrivals : If you plan to arrive later than 17h00, please inform the Fernery staff in order to make the necessary arrangements.
Early Arrivals : If you arrive before 14h00, we will do our best to accommodate you as soon as possible.
Booking Out : Please vacate your room by 11h00.
